Infant Massage Instruction (IAIM)

Although it might seem like a new 'fad' to the western world baby massage has in fact been around for centuries. Many cultures use massage to bond with their children, to calm and help them sleep, relieve wind and colic and generally assist with healthy development. Infant massage has been studied intensively at the Touch Institute of Miami and is now a proven therapy for Post Natal Depression, family bonding and relaxation for both parent and child.
The massage routine is made up of Indian-style massage, swedish massage and some reflexology type movements.
Yoga style exercises are introduced at the end of the course, this helps encourage baby's development ready for crawling, and helps to strengthen their back and aids co-ordination.
Baby massage benefits both the giver and receiver - instruction classes offer the opportunity to:
Learn about the benefits.
Recognise cues your baby is giving to communicate with you.
Learn and practice the massage routine with confidence, making it fun for both you and baby.
Learn specific massage for common baby complaints ie colic, constipation etc.
Learn about which oils to use (including some aromatherapy oils).

Not only is baby massage great for all the family to learn, it can help to provide a 'specific role' for dads who might otherwise feel a little left out.
I run Infant Massage instruction classes locally in the Bexley area, Alternatively if you know of several mum's looking to attend a group (min 4), you can arrange for group sessions in your home at a time that is convenient to you. This is particularly useful if you are part of an ante natal group looking to get together once a week once babies are born.
Massage Oil and instruction booklets will be included.
